Grants - LINCOLN ARTS COUNCIL

The Grassroots Arts Program is unique in that it empowers local arts councils and arts organizations to plan programs and projects for their citizens that reflect the arts and cultural traditions and resources specific to their area. By providing funding for localized efforts, the North Carolina Arts Council fosters a sense of pride in local communities and increases citizen participation in and ownership of local programs.

Grassroots Grant Applicants and Awards 2007-2008
The Arts Council of Lincoln County awards Grassroots grants to local artists, and the 2007/2008 grants were approved for the following applicants:

Lincoln County 4-H	$2,550	4-H Under Construction (creative sewing project)
Lincoln Cultural Development Center	$1,250	Heafner/ Williams Vocal Competition (statewide, vocal competition)
Lincoln Charter School PTO	$600	Eagles Soar Arts Program (theater, music, journalism project for students k-eighth grade)
A Place to Grow	$700	Art Exhibit (art exhibit for students of preschool serves children with and without disabilities)
Lincoln Theatre Guild	$3,339.50	L’il Abner Community and School Production (to bring live theater to the school system)
The Shepherds Ranch	$1,500	Remarkable Art Incident (and multi-genre art program, including drama, music, dance and visual art for clients)
The Barns of Joseph	$1,618	A New Way of Seeing (and interactive workshop to reduce youth delinquency rates focusing on economic depressed students)

The Grassroots Arts Program is sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, and is administered through the Arts Council of Lincoln County. Grants are issued yearly for cultural arts projects, events and services. Funds are available to nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations, whose purpose is to promote and develop diverse cultural arts programming in Lincoln County.
